LATROBE FIRES DISPLACE FAMILIES - WANT TO HELP? Within a matter of three (3) days, there have been two (2) house fires in the Latrobe Municipality. While it is timely to remind residents of being alert to fire dangers and what your plan is should such a situation occur, it is also a time when the community pulls together to help those affected get back on their feet. This assistance is varied however one of the best ways for you to assist is via monetary donations, which enables the affected families to purchase essentials that may not be readily available via donated goods. Council has therefore established a monetary appeal for both the Moriarty Road and Mersey Main Road fires. ALL funds donated will be passed onto the fire affected families (whichever the donor states or 50:50 if not stated). It is appreciated that not everyone that wants to help can do so financially. If you have household items and/or clothing to donate, please contact a call St Vincent de Paul at 18 Murray Street, East Devonport and check what items are needed. BETTER YET, why not hold a garage sale that ensures that the items you dont need anymore go to those that want them and then donate the funds raised to the families affected by these disasters.
