LAWSUIT FILED: CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- A professor whose job offer from the University of Illinois was rescinded after he sent anti-Israel Twitter messages has filed a lawsuit claiming the school violated Illinois Freedom of Information Act. Steven Salaitas lawyers filed the lawsuit Monday in Champaign County Court. Salaita accepted an offer to teach in 2013. But the offer was rescinded after critics objected to messages he sent during Israels war with Gaza in July. Mondays suit says the school has refused Salaitas requests to release documents that could shed light on the decision to withdraw the job offer. Salaitas lawyer says Mondays suit isnt linked to further legal that will allege U of I violated Salaitas rights by withdrawing the job offer. A message left Monday evening seeking comment from the university wasnt immediately returned.
