LEDs (light emitting diodes) have come a long way since their invention. It took some tome to figure out how to manipulate the lighting color. Measured in degrees Kelvin, color will vary from warm to cool. Cool being a very stark white, almost sterile looking light. Think looney bin. But we humans tend to like light at about 2700k. This is what gives natural looking color when used in lamps. For display or lighting of say an art piece I use 3500k as this is very close to natural sunlight and may be helpful to those who suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). Also because LEDs work on Direct Current rather than Alternating Current there had to be a conversion made by hardware. It was too bulky to be included in the bulb so it was in the hardware. Thats why LED hardware was so expensive for so long. That has changed - now it is small enough to be put in the bulb and we can use the regular hardware we are familiar with. I recommend omnidirectional LED bulbs at about 2700k with screw in base. Usually about 12 - 20 bucks. #leds #lighting #evolution #lightbulbs #whoknew #edison #light #aboutlighting #liquidsands #liquidsandsglassgallery #savannah #savannahga #ledscrewins #gu24 #gu24converter #pendants #pendantlighting #savemoney #energy #energyefficiency #green #greenliving
