LEGAL AFFAIRS: ATTORNEY GENERAL MEETS UN SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR -------------------------- Union Attorney General Dr. Tun Shin received Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Myanmar, Ms. Yanghee Lee and delegates at his office in Nay Pyi Taw, on Tuesday. At the meeting, the union attorney general said that the relevant ministries are preparing for signing in the remaining major human rights agreements and that the union attorney general office has made remarks through legal channel. He added that, concerning the other human rights laws, she can ask directly to the ministries, that are implementing them. He also explained that the interfaith marriage law permits freedom of religious confession and the spirit of law and letters of law should be observed thoroughly. Continuing, he said that the law on health care for control of booming population aims to provide health care and reduce poverty and as a result, both of them meet the norms of international laws. Both sides openly exchanged views on legal affairs.
