LEST WE NEVER FORGET! On 9/11/2001 4 airliners were hijacked by Terrorists, and stuck both Towers of the World Trade Center in NY City, the Pentagon in Wash. DC, and a field in Shanksville, PA. Both 110 story Towers collapsed at the World Trade Center in New York. 2977 people were killed that day by the worst terrorist attack on US soil in history. 343 FDNY Firefighters were killed attempting to rescue others and fight the resulting fires. 23 NYPD and 37 Port Authority Police were killed helping in the rescue attempts. 15 Paramedics and EMT’s of FDNY were killed while trying to treat the injured. 33 Airlines Crew Members, also considered emergency responders were killed on the planes. That’s 451 Emergency Responders killed while selflessly giving their lives to save others. Of those 2977 killed, still today 1115 or 41% of the total are still unidentified. Extremely important to note, during the last 13 years 1400+ Emergency Responders who worked at these 3 locations have died from 9/11 related illnesses.
