LET THEM GROW TOGETHER #1 Matthew 13:30 May we share a few thoughts from the parable of wheat and tares and hopefully we will be brought closer to the throne of grace. A farmer sows a good seed in his field. And while everyone is asleep the enemy comes and plants tares a certain kind of weed that looks similar to the wheat while growing. And when the servants of the farmer saw this they were eager to pluck out the tares, and the farmer stops them and say, let them grow together. Allow me to share some points here that I believe are very important. Firstly let me be quick to say in the world that we live in are two kinds of folks, the bad and the good, the righteous and the evil, those that are Gods by choice and those that have yielded themselves to be used by the devil. There is no middle ground. There is no neutral ground. If one doesnt consciously make a choice to be on Gods side then they are of the devil. When God created the world, it was perfect, without a single trait of evil. The devil came and sowed tares in the kingdom of God as a result we both the good and the bad. More so it is like that in the church of God. The field is the world. But we must understand this as signifying the church of Christ in the world. The parable is a description of that which pertains the kingdom of God. His work of salvation of men; and this work is accomplished though the church. True, the Holy Spirit has gone out into the world; everywhere it is moving upon the hearts of men; but it is in the church that we are to grow and ripen for the garner of God. E G White in the book Christs object lessons page 70. So my focus is not just the world but The church. Not A church, but the church. From when sin entered into the corridors of this world, there has always been, in the church of God, two kinds of people. From the old Israel on their way to the promised land, there has been two classes. When they left Egypt, God knew that the devil had his own children among His children, but He allowed them to come along. He did not expel them but He allowed time and circumstances to reveal them. It was the presence of the second group that made a few days journey to last forty years. The presence of the second group did not cause God to disown them. He remained their God and it was still His church. In later years, when the Isrealites were settled in the promised land, we still see the mixture of good and bad and in most times it seemed that the bad prevailed against the good, we saw apostasy creeping into the leadership of the church for many years and the prophets of God would grieve in the sight of such apostasy. In most cases the faithful children of God would be persecuted or even killed. Brothers and sisters God would still be their God and it was His church. In the book of second Kings chapter 5 we read about a man called Naaman who had leprosy. I will not tell the whole story one can read for themselves. My attention is taken up by the response of the man when told the he must go dip himself seven times into the river Jordan. Brothers and sisters, the directive did not say to the river, but to Jordan river. No, not any river, but Jordan. Yes there were many rivers, the guy(Naaman) even said so himself. The rivers he mentioned were cleaner and better. They were serviced and maintained. And Jordan was filthy! Oh but the cleansing was in Jordan. The river Jordan had no cleansing properties on its own, but The God of Israel. There are many churches but God has one church. God has children in other churches but He has one church. It may seem filthy in your eyes but it is His church, He died for it. You may be discouraged by the seeming apostasy that is inside the church but it is still His church and He is its God. Drunkenness, promiscuity, worldliness and many other sins may seem to prevail, even in its leadership. It is still the church of God. If you on the verge of leaving for better, cleaner church, think again. No water can swallow the sheep where lies the Master of the sea. The Master Jesus is still among His church and is still in control. Let us not panic. Let them grow together! Let us pray: Lord keep our eyes focused in you. Hold our shaking hands. Increase our faith in you. Amen #part_2_coming.
