LETS GET HAPPY! Well, its my Saturday night, so lets chillax, mellow out and get happy. Why not do so with 2 of the greats from movie musicals in the Golden Age of those musicals? Here is: Donald OConnor, I believe THE most underrated guy in the business in his day, and the amazing Vera Ellen. Donald was so cool, immensely entertaining and a total entertainer. Like Danny Kaye, Donald OConnor was The Real Deal. Vera Ellen was, in my opinion, in a 3-way tie for being the very best female dancer in the Golden Age of Hollywood. The other dancing ladies she was tied with were Cyd Charisse and Eleanor Powell. Each of these ladies was the very best ... when dancing to their own strengths. Vera Ellen: Vera had what the U.S. Marines call snap and pop. Quick, precise, accurate moves that dazzle. However, her forte was complete, artistic movements and the joy of the dance! She was The Bees Knees! Cyd Charisse: I love to call Cyd The Prime Mover ... long and gorgeous line, sensual and seductive and a knock-out physique. Cyd had the moves ... liquid motion ... poetry of motion. Salome-like seductress. Whats not to love? Rock on, Cyd! Eleanor Powell: Power. Control. Speed. Grace. Execution. The Total Package. Step-for-step, the very best dancer technically of all the ladies. Fred Astaires true equal. Spins? Nobody could touch her ... not even Fred! Eleanor was The Art of the Dance. https://youtube/watch?v=pUmITtRCcH4
