LETTER TO CLARIFY THE HURLEY PRIMARY SCHOOL PARKING SITUATION I - TopicsExpress

LETTER TO CLARIFY THE HURLEY PRIMARY SCHOOL PARKING SITUATION I am writing in response to a recent letter, published in the Tamworth Herald, made by an anonymous person claiming to be a parent. This letter asserts that the Headteacher of Hurley Primary School has invited the police to target and ‘hassle’ parents parking by the school. This allegation is completely unfounded and totally false. The recent police activity regarding parking was instigated as a result of a complaint to the police from a local resident. Hurley Primary is a fantastic school and for a number of years its many outstanding features have been highly praised by Ofsted. It has a fabulous reputation in the area and as a result many parents travel long distances to ensure their children get the best education possible. We appreciate that at many schools (particularly popular schools) parking can often be challenging and requires patience and tolerance from all. Unfortunately, building a new car park is not a financially viable solution. Not only would this be extremely costly, it would also have a detrimental effect on the children’s playground or sports field. Our parents are very understanding and park considerately and courteously which is greatly appreciated. However, if an individual drives their car in a way that threatens the safety or wellbeing of children, parents or local residents and if polite requests to drive appropriately are ignored, the police must act to uphold the law and protect the interests of local community. If an individual feels they have been treated unfairly regarding a parking situation, please contact the school and we are happy to investigate the individual situation to ensure it has been dealt with appropriately. Hurley Primary is an absolutely brilliant school built upon strong positive relationships and outstanding partnerships with parents and the local community. We are also very lucky to have the support of a fabulous local police force. We are committed to forging further links to maintain our very high standards and will continue to ensure the children of Hurley Primary continue to enjoy an outstanding education. Many thanks for your positive support. Yours sIncerely, Glyn Morgans Headteacher of Hurley Primary School.
