LETTER TO MY STATE MEN. Why this letter today I deemed it necessary more than just a face to face but using this medium with aim of reaching you with a minimum delay. Delta is my state, your state and our state. As a committed Deltans I feel so curious in extending a message of hope and courage. My motives for writing this letter is not an emotional response or a political anxiety rather but an expression and projection towards our state developments. Our search for adequate evidence has taken the direction of making experimental analogs of leadership and construct system of our state. The true picture of today’s happening should encourages you and me as to search for a unique leadership comes 2015. We are apt to take a kind of explanation because it would be much more to the point to know and to take the right direction at the right time. RIGHT MAN AT: THE RIGHT TIME. One may need to know who is DR FESTUS GOZIEM OKUBOR what conviction do we hold to present him as our candidate in 2015.The Man DR. FESTUS GOZIEM OKUBOR was born at Ute Erumu in Ika North East Local Govt. Area of Delta State. To late Festus Okubor, a retired Secondary school principal and Mrs Grace Okubor, a retired matron of the hospital management board. He attended St James Primary School Agbor before proceeding to the famous Edo College Benin City from 1972-1976. Between 1977-1983, he was at the renowned University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he trained as a medical Doctor. OKUBOR THE MEDICAL DOCTOR. Dr. Okubor has had various and varied experience as an accomplished medical practitioner and an unrepentant political activist. From 1986-1990, he was the medical officer and proprietor of El Shaddai Medical Centre Biu in Borno State. Between 1991 and 1993, he practiced as a medical officer at Kupa Medical Centre, Ajao Estate Lagos. This versatile medical practitioner was the proprietor of the first medical hospital in Biu, Bornu State. That was an expression of his contribution as a young man to rural development and his belief in the unity of Nigeria as a country. OKUBOR ON HEALTH INSURANCE He joined the medical insurance department of the international insurers ltd, lagos. Due to his diligence, devotion and commitment to duties, he moved from assistant manager to deputy manager, manager and assistant general manager in quick succession. He is the first Nigerian to practice health insurance and he presented a paper on Health Insurance as a national policy for health care financing. OKUBOR THE POLITICIAN Btw 1996 and 1998, he was the National Publicity Secretary of the Grassroot Democratic Movement of Nigeria {GDM}. In 2002 he became the chairman, Ika North East Local Government Council, Owa Oyibu. He moved from the Local Govt Council to govt. House, Asaba as the first State Director of Protocol in 2003. Still moving higher in political echelon, Dr. Okubor was appointed Commissioner for Special Duties, Government House in 2006. In the same year, he metamorphosed in to the Honourable Commissioner for Information and later the Commissioner for Health in 2007. In 2008, he became the Chairman Hospitals Management Board, Delta State and Currently Chief of Staff Government House Asaba. OKUBOR THE STRATEGIST. In line with the emerging political realities in the State in 2010-2011, Dr. Okubor was appointed the deputy director general and head of operations, Uduaghan Campaign Organization, making him the highest Anioma man in Uduaghan Campaign Structure. Later in the same year, He was appointed again as Deputy Director General, PDP Campaign Council, with the responsibility of ensuring the victory of all PDP candidates from House of Assembly to the President. A loyal Party man. Currently, Dr. Okubor is the Chief of Staff to the Governor of delta State and he makes himself readily available to join hands with all who believe in applying themselves diligently towards the enhancement of humanity and realization of Nigerias destined greatness. A Paul Harris Fellow Rotary International, Dr. Okubor loves contributing uniquely the national growth and development, especially in politics. A man with robust integrity and transparent stewardship. He is indeed a refined politician with an unprecedented administrative sagacity and an astute manager of human and material resources. This proximate personality have acquired over the years ,a long thread of experience and any one who has had a long life of experience, as we all know, is worth listening to worth doing ,worth emulating. Experience indeed carries lasting good for us and we must not miss that in choosing DR FESTUS GOZIEM OKUBOR in 2015. It is a clear indication that his political role and activities is gear towards his people. More so his characteristics manner and loyalty over the years to the system added him more advantage to his political career. HIS CHARACTERISTICS MANNER. A born natural philanthropist, friendly. Politeness devoted and dedicated politician, a principled and courageous man, a man with administrative experience. To this end it is to our conviction that if given a chance He will surely harness his potential in uplifting the state into a greater height. Just believe together we can actualize it IJN....AMEN.
