Form and fitness are a consideration for Gerrard, who only wants to carry on playing if he can be effective for the team. There has also been talk that he could be offered a deal in the MLS, with New York Red Bulls and New York City both still recruiting. Liverpool are said to be set to offer Brazilian goalkeeper Neto £30,000-per-week in a pre-contract agreement, according to Italian reports. The Reds are looking to replace goalkeeper Simon Mignolet and believe that the Fiorentina could be the man to sure up the last line of defence. Neto, 25, is out of contract next summer and Liverpool want to get him secured for the new season. Arsenal and Liverpool are set to be upstaged in their pursuit for Jackson Martinez by Tottenham, according to the Daily Express. The forward has been given a price-tag of £40million by Porto bosses, as Martinez revealed that he believes his future lies away from the Portuguese league. Arsenal and Liverpool will compete for the £12million signature of Manchester Uniteds Javier Hernandez in January, according to the Daily Star. The Mexican is currently on loan at Real Madrid, but despite scoring three times in limited playing opportunities, Chicharito is unlikely to have his move made permanent.
