LIKE,SHARE, AND PRAY FOR US PLEASE This cant be just. My brother has been in prison for over a month now and was set to be released sometime this month or early August. During his time served I was able to speak to him twice out of the 20 or so number of times he tried calling me. The first time I was able to speak to him he was blessed with his first and final free call to me, understandable. The rest of the times he called me I had to put money on an account in order to communicate with him and EVERY SINGLE time I tried the system would tell me that my card was invalid-false, I know I have money on my card and I made sure the card information was correct. So lets fast forward to these past few days- Saturday. I am informed from a friend that hell be released Monday and that I need to get a hold of my mom in order for her to pick him up. Ok great! About time, I need my big bro to talk to to let him know how productive Ive been this summer and how I just completed my dental summer program. Its all coming into place for me. I let my mom know and come Monday, yesterday, she goes to the courthouse hoping to come out with her son and shes told that he wont be released today, but. He was not even in the courthouse-they tell my mother that my brother is in the hospital and that is ALL she is told. No reason, nothing. When I talk to my mom she tells me the news and I ask why is he even in the hospital, she responds Probably fighting..... Im thinking oh, okay bro probably has some cuts or something... let me get back to studying LITTLE did we know though.... and I mean LITTLE. Im sitting in class this morning and I get a message from a friend saying I need to call him ASAP Marcus(my brother) is about to have open heart surgery. So I run out of class and call him to hear that its a serious situation basically. Then, like clockwork I receive a call from some Denton captain of the law asking me if I can put him into contact with my mother so that they can arrange visitation with my brother. I try to find out information on my bro- about why hes in the hospital and whatnot- and he has nothing to tell me because he is not caught up on the case. I tell him my mothers phone is off right now, but I can try to get a hold of her on the communication apps she has. I was not able to get in contact with her and to this minute cannot. She still does not know whats happening to her son. I get another call from the friend that informed me that my bro is about to have surgery and he is able to 3-way him so that I can speak to him-he tried calling me but my network is messed up and works when it wants to. When I was talking to him I couldnt even recognize his voice at first because he was so groggy from the medication he was given in prep of the surgery at 11:30 I assume. Out of the hard-to-understand language I hear that he wants me to call our cousin so that he can come to the hospital. I tell him alright and to call me when he comes to post surgery, says I love you and hangs up. My cousin calls me and me chat it up putting pieces of the puzzle together. How and why the family didnt know a thing about why my brother was in the hospital and whatnot. Something did not add up. Something. It also hit me that my brother was about to go into heart surgery....that very well could have been the last time I spoke to him. As Im trying to get a hold of my mom piece by piece my family is finding out that in the hospital and that its affiliated with heart surgery. Not 30 minutes later the Denton Captain calls me back telling me that my brother has been released from custody. I respond with I thought he was suppose to get released Friday and he answers .....Im not up to date on the case he knew and Im sure knows nothing to this point about the case. So 1:30 hit and I call the hospital hoping to get some information on my brother understanding that he may not be all the way here yet. I just wanted to know that the surgery was a success so I ask the operator for his room number and she tells me its busy. GREAT NEWS I think, he made it out and the surgery was a success. When I do get a hold of him he tells me that the surgery was postponed until tomorrow at 8am. He also informs me that that would not have been his first surgery, in fact, he had another open heart surgery a few day ago! Im instantly IRATE. Oh but the story goes on. He also tells me that were going to owe a lottt of money.... then it clicks with me. Why there was this random release from custody and everything. My brother was in custody for the first surgery and Im not sure if its the prisons responsibility to pay for that surgery or not, but I do know that since they released him today-right before the surgery that was suppose to happen- they would not be responsible to the bill of either both of the surgeries or just one. Which is why out of nowhere I receive a call from a captain I have never spoken to before or heard of for that matter- to cut a prisoner to save money. OH but that story continues. My brother continues to tell me that when he was checked in a WEEK ago and prior to his first surgery he urged to to contact his family and they denied. Up until yesterday when he made a big deal about contacting his family which forced them to make moves and ultimately introducing the captain to me this morning. My bro, Marcus Byrd, has a condition where his heart works too hard and will require a pacemaker to be put in it which will help control and maintain rhythm. A pacemaker alone cost a good 23k not even including the surgery. Now I could be wrong, but I feel like this is and example of the Denton judicial system trying to pull something slick. This is the epitome of INjustice and I want this to be known! PLEASE SHARE,LIKE, AND PRAY FOR A SUCCESSFUL SURGERY WITHOUT COMPLICATION AND MALPRACTICE TOMORROW MORNING. STAY STRONG BRO!
