LIMPOPO HOLDS A PROVINCIAL SAFETY AND SECURITY SUMMIT 13th-14th NOVEMBER 2014 – POLOKWANE – PROTEA HOTEL THE RANCH - 09H00 Limpopo Premier Mr. Stan Mathabatha assisted by the MEC for Transport, Safety, Security and Liaison Me. Mapula Mokaba-Phukwana will on Thursday, the 13th November to Friday the 14th host a Provincial Safety and Security Summit in Polokwane (Protea Hotel-The Ranch) starting from 09h00. The main purpose of the Summit which meets under the theme: “A safe and secure Limpopo, Moving towards vision 2030” is to review the Provincial Crime Prevention Strategy which was last adopted in 2005/6. The summit to be attended by 600 delegates hailing from NGO’s, CPF’s, CSF’s, youth, SAPS Top Management, Justice, Home Affairs and State Security departments will also serve amongst others to achieve the following: •Sharpen the province’s strategy to deal with continuous and changing crime trends and patterns; •Strategize around trans-border and organized crimes; •Reflect on rural safety, social fabric crimes, improvement of the functioning of the criminal justice system and community policing; •Incorporate the vision of the National Development Plan (NDP) into the Provincial Crime Prevention Strategy; •Incorporate Youth crime prevention pillar into the Provincial Crime prevention strategy. Delegates to the summit will be addressed by various speakers ranging from Premier Stan Mathabatha, Minister of Police Nathi Nhleko, SAPS National Deputy Commissioner Lt Gen K Sitole and various experts in safety and policing.
