LION SUMITH SENANAYAKE. District Governor – 2013/2014 District 306 B2 Lion Sumith Senanayake joined the Lions Club of Gampaha – City which was extended by Lions Club of Attanagalla in year 2006. The keenness and enthusiasm he displayed in the activities of the club earned the respect of the senior Lions and he was the Charter president of the Lions Club of Gampaha - City who brought many awards to the club in the District contest at the District convention in Year 2006/07. He is a Melvin Jones fellow from the date he joined with the Lionism. He proved himself effective and popular club president and also brought more than 25 quality new members to the brotherhood of Lionism. He served in many steering committees since the day he joined the Lionism in 2006 as the chairperson, Co- Chairperson & member in Attendance & Registration Committee, Constitution by laws & resolution Committee, Rules of order & procedure Committee, Election & Nomination Committee and main steering Committee. He was appointed as the Zone Chairperson in year 2007/2008. Lion Sumith was appointed as the Region Chairperson in year 2008/2009 and he was appointed as the Team Leader in year 2009/2010. And Deputy Cabinet Treasurer in year 2010/2011. He was elected as the 2nd Vice District Governor for the year 2011/2012 and as the 1st Vice District Governor for the year 2012/2013. In the recognition of the Excellent Leadership demonstrated by Lion Sumith Four Past International Presidents awarded him special Certificates of Recognition. Lion Sumith attended several International Conventions held in Chicago USA, Bangkock Thailand, Minneapolis USA and Sidney Australia, Seattle USA ,Busan Korea and represented ISSAME Forums held in India, Kenya, Dubai & Sri Lanka. Lion Sumith is the youngest of the family of three children. He studied at Ananda College Colombo where he excelled in athletics, Karate and Gymnastic. He was a senior cadet who won the Hermanlose shield. After successfully completing his studies he entered to the Sri Lanka Law College in 1990 and took his oaths in 1993 as an Attorney-at law of the Supreme Court of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. He is a life member of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka and now practicing as a Senior Advocate in the Suprime Court, Court of Appeal and the High Court of the Western Province holden at Gampaha. Lion Sumith is the founder Chairman and Managing Director of the Rolands Book Shops , Rolands Property Sales and Senanayake Distributors & Tours. And he is a committee member of the old Boys Association of Ananda College and a life member of Organization of Professional Association. He is married to an equally devoted and dedicated lady Lion Dr. Ran who supports in his Lionistic career unreservedly. And she is a Medical officer by profession in the Teaching Hospital Ragama. She has been of great help to the Lion Ladies Association of the District. They are blessed with three children Sumira & Suran studying at Ananda College Colombo and only daughter Ransu studies at Devi Balika College Colombo.
