LIP-SMACKING LINGO Yellow baboon John got into a big fight with another male baboon recently, resulting in a severe injury to his lip. This made it impossible for him to lip-smack with the rest of the group, an integral form of baboon communication! Our resident vet, Sophie, managed to get him on the operating table yesterday and, after a thorough clean and some reconstructive plastic surgery, John’s lip is almost back to normal and he’s already been seen lip-smacking with his friends again!
