LIVE PERFORMANCE OF THE NIGHT Yeah, some of you were wondering when I would get to these guys... :) On September 25, 1982, Queen appeared on the Season 8 premiere episode of Saturday Night Live, ten days after wrapping up the North American leg of their Hot Space Tour. This clip was introd by Danny DeVito (in a cameo appearance); host Chevy Chase was in Burbank, California, marking the first time an SNL host performed his duty remotely. Anyway, Queen performed two songs that night: Crazy Little Thing Called Love and Under Pressure (this clip is the former). This also marked two significant events in the bands history: It was their only live appearance on American television, and it was the last time Queen performed as a foursome in the U.S. The guy on keyboards was Fred Mandel, a session musician who provided keyboard, and occasional guitar, support when the band toured, beginning in 1980. And yes, Virginia, I did stay up to watch this!
