LIVE PSEUDOSCIENCE DISSECTION As editor of h+ Magazine I receive frequent article submissions that are nonsense, pseudoscience, and so on. However, since I want to publish speculative science reporting in areas beyond my expertise, I am often faced with the task of debunking or tracing articles in fields in which I am inexpert such as biotechnology. Ive developed a variety of techniques for this sort of work. Lets test them out on a live patient in situ.... Heres an example from my inbox today: For Immediate Release Full paper is available in pdf file upon request. Based on the pattern of thorium and radioactive potassium gamma radiation, the explosions were centered in the Northern plains in Mare Acidalium near Cydonia Mensa and in Utopia Planum near Galaxias Chaos. The explosions, which apparently occurred over 500 million years ago, appear to correlate with the isotopic signatures of large fusion-fission devices on earth. Dr. John Brandenburg said “the analysis rules out large unstable natural nuclear reactors. Instead, data is consistent with mixed fusion-fission explosions.” Dr. Branderburg says that the imagery at the radioactive centers of the explosions shows no craters, rather it appears consistent with “airbursts.” The data indicates that one, perhaps two, immense thermonuclear explosions occurred on Mars, over 500 million years ago. The locations also appear to be located near sites of previously reported artifacts. Dr. Brandenburg’s paper explains: A signature feature of Mars atmosphere is the predominance of two noble gas isotopes: Xenon-129 and Argon-40. Both these gases are recognized as radiogenic, being due to nuclear reactions in a planetary environment. The high concentration of Xenon-129 atmosphere, the evidence from Krypton-80 and the detected pattern of excess abundance of Uranium and Thorium on Mars surface, relative to Mars meteorites, first seen by the Russians and now confirmed by the Mars Odyssey Spacecraft Gamma Ray Spectrometer, mean that the surface of Mars was apparently the site of massive radiological events, which created large amounts of signature isotopes and covered the surface with a thin layer of radioactive debris enriched in certain elements relative to its subsurface rocks. This pattern of phenomenon can be explained as due to two large anomalous nuclear explosions on Mars in the past. Explosions appear correlated with the sites of reported possible archaeological artifacts at Cydonia Mensa and Galaxias Chaos, (3) Analysis of new images from Odyssey, MRO and Mars Express orbiters now show strong evidence of eroded archeological objects at these sites. Dr. Brandenburg believes that a human mission to Mars is the surest way to maximize our knowledge of what really occurred. Dr. John Brandenburg announced the results of this new analysis at the PSF14 Meeting of The American Physical Society on Nov 22, 2014.
