# LOCAL NEWS: Pema Culminates his 3-month-long Constituency Tour -Nima Khenrab TAWANG, Jan 23: Pema Khandu, Minister Tourism, UD, Art & Culture etc. culminates his final phase of constituency developmental tour that began on 03rd Nov last year, here at remote Bomja village located far west of Indo-Bhutan border. In his 3-month-long phase-wise developmental tour, the Minister covered length and breadth of his constituency. On Wednesday, the Minister and his entourage visited Bongleng village in the morning and Kharung village in the afternoon where they were accorded a warm traditional reception by the villagers. The following day, Pema visited Bongkhar and Bomja village. Pema along with the public leaders and HODs night halted at Kharung and Bomja village. As a part of the tour programme, public meetings were held at all these villages in order to hear public grievances and better understand grassroot problems. Responding to the public memorandum, Pema assured to provide fund for construction of Tourist Lodge at Bongkhar in the next financial year. It was necessitated to attract domestic as well as foreign tourist in order to promote rural tourism in the area. “I am very happy for the people of Bongkhar, Kharung, Bongleng and Bomja that with the establishment of the CO office in this remote part, it fulfills their need and my dream of administration at doorstep”, Pema said; after inaugurating the newly constructed CO office at Bongkhar. Meanwhile, Pema cautioned the villagers not to compromise the quality of works while implementing the schemes sanctioned by the government. The inaugural function was attended by DC Tawang Abhishek Dev, ADC Tawang Dr. Tapasya Raghav, ADC Jang Dilip Kr. Chutia, PD Tawang Gombu Tsering, COs, HODs and public leaders. Pema assured that the posting of a new CO will be considered soon. The Deputy Commissioner Tawang in this speech divulged that the Government has delegated powers to COs to issue PRCs and ST certificates. Pema termed the tour as, “quite fruitful and insightful”; and said, “Every time I visit these remote villages it draws me closer to them and vitalizes my spirit to work even harder for my people”. All along the tour, Pema primarily laid emphasis on quality education, stressed on adopting horticulture activates and tourism for sustainable source of income generation, maintaining of proper health and hygiene, preservation of rich old tradition and culture, and advocated the learning of Bodhi language. The annual development tour that is conducted by Pema Khandu, Minister UD, Tourism, Art & Culture etc. in his constituency was instituted by his late father and former CM Dorjee Khandu whom he is succeeding as MLA of 3-Mukto (ST) Assembly constituency. Pema in his tour was accompanied by HODs of Jang Sub-Division viz. ADC Jang, EE PWD Jang, AE Electrical Jang, EE & JE DHPD Tawang, AE & JE of WRD Jang Sub-Division, Medical Officer Jang, Veterinary Officer, BDO, BEO; and CO Thingbu & Mukto, President DCC, PRI representatives and GBs etc. apart from his personal staffs. On a personal note, the Minister thanked the Indian Army and the villagers for all the arrangements made en-route his tour despite harsh conditions.
