LOCK N LOAD TO FACE BRAZILIAN An opponent for Les Lock N Load Sherringtons homecoming to the Burdekin district of North Queensland has been confirmed with Brazilian Samir Santos Barbosa set to fight Sherrington at the Memorial Hall, Home Hill, on the 12th December 2014 for the vacant World Boxing Association Oceania Middleweight title belt. Promotor John Bonanno of BDK Promotions, and owner of Sportsfirst Ayr, has confirmed the contracts have been signed. Barbosa is a big name in boxing. Its fantastic to have he and Les here fighting for the WBA title. This will be the biggest event to hit the town of Home Hill... EVER! said an excited Bonanno, who has plans to bring more events to the Burdekin district. A highly experienced boxer, 34 year old Barbosa from Rio Grande, Brazil, is a current WBA regional title holder, with an impressive record. Barbosa went the full 12 rounds in 2009 with former world champion, Daniel Geale. With a record of 25 knockouts from his 35 wins Samir Santos Barbosa has a reputation for being ruthless and an explosive puncher. Otherwise known as Quebro Tuda meaning Break everything!, Barbosa is looking forward to returning to Australia and exudes confidence. I want to knock this Lock N Load Sherrington out! he said. For some strange reason Barbosa, whos from Brazil, has a tattoo of a boxing kangaroo on his rib cage. Im thinking that might be a good target! laughed Sherrington who travels back to the Cane-farming district this weekend for the Home Hill Harvest Festival to promote the fight night. I cant wait to fight in my hometown of Home Hill. This is a massive fight for me and holds a huge bonus when I win. Barbosa is a fierce fighter with a high world rating. I know that it is going to be a very hard, tough fight but I am looking forward to the challenge. said Sherrington, 32, whose record stands at 34 wins, 19 knockouts. Brendon Smith, Sherringtons Trainer/Manager agrees This is a big opportunity for Les to burst back into the world ratings where he belongs. said Smith of Smithy’s Gym, Toowoomba. With a home town crowd, supporters traveling from all over the country and sponsors all filling the seats I am up to the challenge. Let him come and try to break me. I am ready! declared a confident Les Sherrington.
