+LOK-MOR SUVILLE 11 I think this is my all time favorite Brahman bull. Partly because the best bull we ever owned was out of him but more because of the Great sons and daughters he produced and how his bloodlines have carried down and improved Brahman cattle all over since his first calf crop in 1966. 50 years after his birth and he still shows up in many of the best Brahman cattle in the US and abroad. His grand sire was the HCK Suva 1st bull bred by Henry Koontz and used by Bob Massey. The same bull that was double bred into the Great WR Mr. Suva 203 bull. Lok-Mor Suville was purchased and used by US Sugar. He was never halter broken and didn’t really like people that much. He was a big old very dark gray bull, Register of Renown, and Sugar liked him enough that he went in one of the lots up front beside all their National Grand and Reserve Champions when he wasn’t in the pasture. In 1974 we went to Sugar and bought a son of his. We wanted to see the sire so Jim carried us out to the pasture to see him. When we got out there and saw the bull one of his testicles was swollen up to about 5 or 6 times normal size. While we were out there Jim called the office on the radio and had them send someone else out. After we left they got the bull up and checked him and had to remove the testicle. When we came back in 3 weeks to pick up our bull they had him in a pen in the show barn recovering. He wasn’t a happy camper but he sure looked good. So every calf he produced after 1975 including the ROR bull Sugarland’s Suville 136-711/7 was produced by a bull with one testicle. The bull we purchased was out of a first calf heifer and turned out to be pretty awesome. We just didn’t have the cow herd that M Ranch had to breed him to. Here is a link to him, abraonline.org/online/cgi-bin/i4.dll?1=3E3F2F2E&2=2420&3=56&5=2B3C2B3C3A&6=5B245C5A5925242123&9=5C5D585D he was a full brother to 711/7. Even today, that bloodline has a distinctive look to it. I was looking a a picture of a yearling a few weeks ago and thought he had the Suville look to him. When I looked at his pedigree, sure enough he traced right back to the old man. Jimmy Doucette bought an outstanding grand son in the Sugarland dispersal, the 412/9 bull. That bull did a pretty awesome job with the 34/3 bloodlines. There have been a lot of great bulls in the Brahman Breed and we all have our favorites. I have a whole lot of favorites myself but the 3/161 bull is certainly ranked very high up there. Just more great old memories.
