LOL, a former Subway sandwich artist trolled me (though a Yelp compliment) for giving them bad reviews on Yelp due to their ridiculous ordering system. Heres the one star review after a couple of identically terrible experiences trying to order a frackin sandwich: -- I hate Subway, and I generally dont like the people they hire, either. They seem to collect the worst employees along with employees who dont have a mastery of English. Thats important if youre going to force me to have long conversations about exactly what I want on my sandwich. That brings me to my next complaint about Subway, purely from an interface perspective. How come nobody understands what everything on it means at Subway? How come there is no DEFAULT option where one names a sandwich and type of bread and without the need for more conversation? For instance, if I order an Italian BMT, this should mean something, and it shouldnt just be solely a choice of meat. This should be a complete sandwich for the people who arent picky or dont want to have a ton of interaction with people who speak too quietly, mumble their words, are low-effort douchebags, arent happy to be making any sandwiches, are in ESL classes, arent in ESL classes or maybe I just dont feel like looking like a picky bastard when really, Im not. Im also kinda hard-of-hearing. I simply dont want to have a lot of back-and-forth. I just want a frackin Italian BMT. How difficult is that? Heres what it SHOULD be like: Id like an Italian BMT please, everything on it, wheat bread. This should be understood to mean that the employee doesnt force me to issue directives about each smear of mayo or mustard, direct the placement of each pickle or asundried other items, issue edicts about lettuce, etc. Basically, there should be a way to order an Italian BMT (or any sandwich) without having copious-involvement and conversation. If I want to think THAT MUCH about a sandwich, Ill make the damned thing myself. Why doesnt Subway comprehend this? Anyway, Subway sucks, and this location sucks huge. The last (and final) time I was there, the guy (a native Spanish-speaker) did not understand everything on it. He was starting to get cute and putting all kinds of random crap on my sandwich. Its one thing to not understand a phrase, but when an employee has a bad attitude and starts messing with my food, I no longer feel like its a safe place to eat. Subway, you gotta teach people this stuff, especially if the people you hire dont understand it. Anyway, if I want a subway I will make it myself, or I will just go to Jersey Mikes. Then, I can say Italian, name the bread, specify Mikes Way and I am DONE until the thing is ready. Former Subway customer, and I am boycotting Subway for life until they learn some BASIC interface design. --
