Lac-Mégantic: Officials begin quest for answer. ac-MÉGANTIC — As the wreckage in downtown Lac-Mégantic cools, investigators can begin the long process of trying to establish how a 72-car train carrying hundreds of thousands of litres of crude oil destroyed the centre of this small town. At least five people were killed in the blast, a toll that is expected to rise in the coming days. More than 40 people are still unaccounted for 48 hours after the blast.mma-01
