Lands Minister Introduces New Ebola Strategy Moyamba Raises Le 102 M to Fight Ebola Minister of Lands, Musa Tarawally, August 10th, organises meeting in Moyamba to introduce strategy for the establishment of a community Ebola isolation center, raises Le 102 M instant. “The initiative,” Musa Tarawally said, “is in response to threats and challenges posed by the viciously deadly ebola epidemic, and to compliment government’s established measures in the fight against the disease.” “The meeting saw the founding of the ‘Moyamba District Ebola Response Team’ (MoDERT) and the appointment of persons to positions such as Chairman- myself, Vice Chairman- Hon. Amadu Kanu, Secretaries- Hon. Gladys Gbappy-Brima and Hannah Y. Macfoy, Infrastructure- Hon. James Alie and Mr. Alie Lamin, Logistics- Hon. Edward Stile Jengo, Media- Bernard Dugba, Finance and Fund raising- Hon. Veronica K. Sesay and Hon. Mimi Soba Stephens, all hailstones of Moyamba District.” “With MoDERT, indigenes of Moyamba have realized ebola is real, and that it has infiltrated their district, but reiterates also that the MoDERT initiative to construct an isolation/holding center far away from the government hospital will alleviate stigmatization at the district government hospital.” “The planned isolation/holding center will provide facilities that will host patients with ebola symptoms, of course, promote patients/health official confidentiality, where possible help in the transportation of confirmed cases to treatment centers in Kenema and Kailahun as the case may be.” Musa Tarawallay further told his Moyamba brothers ans sisters that health indeed is a precious thing to recover and preserve, that in achieving such, it is obvious society can undergo any misery, drink bitter potions, freely give its goods: and to restore a man to his health, his or others purse should lie open. The August 10th meeting also saw membership of MoDERT raising Le 102 million, 16 Bags of rice, 15 mobile phones and a fever watcher machine. Donations so far made will help kickstart strategies put forward by MoDERT visavis the eradication of ebola from out of Moyamba district completely. A PA system was also donated to enhance sensitization. It is unanimously agreed that 22 fever watcher machines should be procured in the soonest possible time. Stakeholders- Moyamba Paramount Chiefs- verily also agree on supporting MoDERT with 10% of local taxes collected in their respective chiefdoms, gave their blessing to Musa Tarawally and team in their bid to help fight ebola even as they also enforce the established bye laws that restrict the spread of the disease. MoDERT assures people of Moyamba of its willingness to compliment government’s efforts by supplying food to the isolation/holding center, provide incentive for the nurses and burial team, for effective performance. The initiative appeased indigenes of Moyamba, but stakeholders say the initiator/brain man (Musa Tarawally), should himself tirelessly use his ideas and good office in influencing diaspora Moyamba indigenes support the district in combating ebola. That according to them: “a good health is an essential to happiness, and happiness is an essential to good citizenship.” And that Musa Tarawally’s pioneered initiative for the establishment of MoDERT, no doubt has heartedly revealed his love for the health of all in Moyamba and by extension, Sierra Leone. “We have no doubt MoDERT will eradicate ebola from Moyamba in the soon to come future,” a group of happy Moyamba residents said.
