Large Fire Update; Century Road, Saltend, Hull Road closures remain on Hedon Road (both ways) A10133, from the Hedon Road Flyover, Somerdon Road, BP Roundabout and Saltend Roundabout, whilst emergency services attend a large scale fire at an industrial unit on the Industrial Estate, adjacent to King George Docks on Century Road, Saltend, Hedon. The unit which is alight contained plastics, woods and recycling waste. Despite the obvious dangers posed to spectators, large crowds have gathered, with spectators including young children attempting to get near or within the cordon to see the flames. This is putting the people and the officers guarding the scene in extreme danger. The advice being issued to nearby residents, is to avoid the area and keep windows closed for the foreseeable future, until the fire and smoke is re-assessed. Power is down in the area, along with Staithes Road/Somerdon Road area traffic lights also out of action. Hull KR have a match at Craven Park this afternoon and the fans have been informed of the potential severe traffic disruptions they may encounter if they plan to use the diverted roads which are now in place, following the match.
