Larimer County is sponsoring an informational Emergency Preparedness Open House on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 6-8 p.m.at the Loveland Chilson Senior Center, 700 E. 4th Street in Loveland. The purpose of the Open House is to provide updates on flood and fire related recovery activities and to provide information on preparedness activities and actions for this upcoming season in Larimer County. With the spring season upon us, additional flood concerns exist due to the large wildfires and flooding over the last few years. The next few months hold the potential for additional flooding throughout Larimer County due to significant snow pack, change in streambed sediment and depth, scorched land from wildfires, and the upcoming severe weather season. Additionally, wildfire remains a constant concern for much of the county throughout the summer months. Larimer County Emergency Management agencies encourage all citizens to attend to receive valuable recovery and preparedness information. Lori Hodges, Larimer County Director of Emergency Management and Recovery, states, “This is a great opportunity to learn about key preparedness actions, severe weather considerations, and to talk with fellow citizens and county staff about concerns for this upcoming season.”
