Last Friday, Mailah, my 13 year old, and I were out grocery - TopicsExpress

Last Friday, Mailah, my 13 year old, and I were out grocery shopping, and my wife and Thainawan, my 15 year old, were taking showers. Reuben, my 11 year old, and Jada, my 12 year old, had the house to themselves. Jada decided to eat a chewable multi-vitamin and started choking on it. When Reuben finally noticed, he performed the Heimlick maneuver on her. She spit out the vitamin and then threw up. When Mailah and I arrived at home, my wife had just came out of the shower and told us the story. Reuben was busy cleaning up the vomit. Later on I found Jada and Reuben on the sofa crying. I asked them what was wrong, and Reuben told me that he was imagining how things could have gone. He didn’t like the idea of Jada no longer being around. Jada saw him crying and broke down crying as well. The interesting thing is that a few years ago they were in a similar situation, but on the other side of things. We had lost Reuben at the beach and Jada ran to me crying hysterically because no one could find him. Turns out that he just decided to take a walk to our towels, but he didn’t find them. He just turned back around and found us looking for him. I reminded them both about that event and told them this is why you always have to appreciate each other. You don’t know what you have until you lose it.
