Last Friday, as I was shooting the surf from Bob Hall Pier, I had the opportunity to also shoot a couple of the gorgeous great blue herons that frequent the structure in search of a quick free meal from pier fishermen. I love these birds...so huge and regal...and they allow you to almost walk right up to them. I was shooting one in particular that had something on its beak. I couldnt get closer than about 10 feet to him, and still couldnt make out what it was...it looked like a clump of seaweed. It wasnt until I got home and looked at the photos that I realized what it was...and old rusty hook and leader. UUGGGHHHH !!! Man, that crap makes my heart ache...
