Last Saturday there was enough help available to place a steady - TopicsExpress

Last Saturday there was enough help available to place a steady band around the student in every touch, plus a “minder”; it made world of difference. There were fewer students than usual, which worked to their advantage as everyone had at least two “prime rings”. Bastow was not used this time, but the other focus methods of Bob Minor and Cloister were rung. Plain courses and touches of Bob Doubles were available to those who needed to consolidate what they were learning in their home towers. The front six was used for the whole practice, with no reoccurrence of last week’s hiccups with the simulator thank goodness. Target methods for next week will still be Plain Bob, Bastow, and Cloister, with Major and Triples being attempted given sufficient numbers to justify using the octave. In view of the progress we are making with method ringing we intend to resurrect the kaleidoscope Yorkshire Places and St Clements with a view to adding Double Oxford Bob to our list of focus methods. The diagrams are available so please come prepared for this. Some of the learners who are following the LTR scheme are now working at Level 3 which involves quarter peals. They have asked for extended touches in preparation for their first quarter attempts and we shall try to fit in an occasional 360 (12 mins) if circumstances permit. Additionally we would like to try offering several longer touches during the practice on the first Saturday in the month, when extra help is normally available. It would be helpful for us to know, preferably in advance, of any special requests. As always, thank you to our helpers without whom we’d be pretty stuck. Peter
