Last Sunday of 2014. I guess I will give my two cents. I think its a positive thing when you can reflect on a year or day or era and its significance to you. For me personally it was a year of change, growth, life milestones yet some regret, wake up calls, hurt and brutal honesty. The usual...(smile) I have gained a new best friend ;) and man is she gorgeous, amazing, real, funny and can wear some jeans!! Starving artists dont have benefits but I might give her my publishing...lol!! #ASCAPlove ;):):)♡♡♡☆☆but I lost a few too..:( Family ties have been seriously challenged this year and some soul ties had to be broken. Boy did I learn that ONE the hard way. I love FB but I have to say I have seen the devil be manifested on here more this year than ever before. #lastdays Musically, this was a brick laying year...laying bricks for a new foundation. I thought I had it figured out....wrong. Work in progress. New collaborations, new friends, new fans and new toys..lol. Great shows this year. Lots of them. Some OK some not so good but hey whose counting... I think the future of Contemporary jazz is a little dim right now but the light gets brighter as long as the fans are willing and able to support. I challenge us all...promoters, talent buyers, radio, internet-based radio, indie artists, signed, majors, mainstays, up and comers to continue to REACH THE YOUTH. Music cannot survive without the generations behind us. Im not old Im old school and somewhat old souled so I will say this: If jazz is to continue to flourish we cant just cultivate young jazz masters we have help create and cultivate the YOUNG JAZZ FAN. Not just the R&B fan at the jazz festival waiting for the R&B headliner. Expose the babies to this music, too. There should be more teenagers, 20-somethings at the clubs, festivals, wineries, etc. As the generations pass and we only cater the demographic then who will the new cats be playing for in 10, 15 years?? Its possible I think. I could be wishful in that idea. I will probably be in my 60s when it happens lol... Jah Willing.....but I have faith (wink). Spiritually, I learned a lot and unlearned a lot. I reaffirmed my prayer life is not just for the best times or scary ones but even when the Sun is out and its freezing. Can someone say Challllllllennngeeeeeee...lol.??? Good year though....I am still on this side of the dirt. I shall breathe with and without my saxophone or my inhaler!! Ha! Just gimme my coffee and we even. Lol. ..... I love you all...Im done.....thank u for continued support of my gift. #wordisbond
