Last Sunday we visited the Nobeoka ward and gave a ride back for the zone leaders. One elder really wanted to see (before going home this week) the Gorogataki (water falls 50 meters) and the nearby bridge (aqueduct that delivers water to rice paddies that normally would get little natural water). Tsūjun Bridge (通潤橋 -kyō) is an aqueduct in Yamato, Kumamoto, Japan. It is an arch bridge completed in 1854 and is 84.0m long. The arch spans 27.3m. It is the largest stone aqueduct in Japan. During festivals, water is released from the center side of the aqueduct to clean our buildup of sand and debris is a spectacular water spout on both sides. We only took a picture of the bridge but hope to get the festival in September.
