Last Tuesday morning around 6:00, sweet Ginger the Pomeranian went - TopicsExpress

Last Tuesday morning around 6:00, sweet Ginger the Pomeranian went missing. During her morning routine, she had been outside for nearly 10 minutes before disappearing without a trace. Immediately, the search began! A team of Ginger’s closest friends and family searched high and low - looking everywhere possible, handing out nearly 500 flyers, and telling everyone they saw to be on the lookout. After a two day search and no sign of Ginger, owners Frank and Charlotte Evans set up game cameras around their property. They also called Karin TarQwyn, owner of Lost Pet Professionals, the number one pet search and rescue team in the country and based in New Jersey. Thursday morning, after reviewing the film from the cameras, they found a chilling sight. A very large coyote was in their yard for nearly 4 hours, hanging around their yard where Ginger was last seen. That afternoon, Karin’s team of 3 tracking dogs arrived with their handler, June Queen, and began phase two of the search. All three dogs tracked Ginger’s scent to a large coyote den about two miles behind their property. This was certainly not the ending that Frank, Charlotte, and others who loved Ginger had hoped for - however, through this tragic event they want to spread the word to prevent it from happening again to someone else. After speaking with neighbors in surrounding areas, they found that this was certainly not the only coyote out there. A ranch-hand that works just behind the Evans property has killed nine coyotes in the past month. Coyotes have also stalked/approached people jogging on their morning/evening runs throughout the surrounding neighborhoods. Although nine coyotes have already been killed, there are about 8-9 more coyote pups in the area. With 400 homes being built on top of the coyote’s current home, they will begin to spread out and invade many of the neighborhoods close by over the next few months - Thorington Trace, New Park, Deer Creek, Sturbridge, etc. The Evans’ are setting up traps on their property in efforts to reduce the coyote population, however, there are still 10-12 out there that they know of. Ginger was taken less than 50 feet from her front door by one of these coyotes. Please be cautious with not only your pets, but your children as well. Do not leave them outside and unattended at any time, even for just a few minutes. It took less than 10 minutes for Ginger to disappear. The Evans family thanks everyone for the outpour of support through this trying time – both in the search, and now in this time of mourning. Ginger was a ray of sunshine to everyone that she met and will be dearly missed. Please spread the word and keep your own loved ones, both furry and not, safe!
