Last autumn at a Sothebys Contemporary Art Auction, an anonymous buyer quickly snapped up Jean-Michel Basquiats painting Mecca. The next day it was revealed it was Jay Z who paid $4.5 million on the painting of the Empire State Building with Basquiats signature crown.
