Last day of child cancer awareness month today. Not sure Ive done much to raise awareness, but just wanted to share our dinner conversation from tonight. We were talking about tomorrows plans and Bella piped up that she was going for a play with one of her friends. This little friend is currently fighting neuroblastoma, nasal tube and all. To clarify what friend Bella was talking about Eva asked her if it was her tubey friend. Bella said yip and we then got onto the conversation of her tube and asked her if she remembered having one. Yes, she said she did (with a big smile on her face) but then when Reuben asked her if she remembered having the dangly plugs (from her Hickman line dangling from her chest) she got this blank look on her face and had no idea what he was talking about. But even stranger, Eva, our 6 year old couldnt remember the plugs either. How amazing to spend over a year of your life with lines sticking out of you, and just not remember. As much as I want to raise awareness about this monster of a disease, my heart skipped a beat at the thought of it all being forgotten in our household. The amazing minds of our kiddies :-)
