Last election post of the season...this one is to young people. If you are 18-29 and you wonder why elected officials dont make the issues you care about a priority, Im going to fill you in. Its because you dont vote! Let me drop a little knowledge on you...electeds of all varieties really only care about 2 groups, voters and donors. Take a look at 2 groups that consistently get what they want and are almost never fd with..Seniors and Gun owners. This happens because these groups show up at the ballot box every year not every four or every two but every year and for everything, dog catcher, city council, state legislature etc etc. Young people dont show up to vote consistently and therefore elected officials dont have to care about the Student Debt Crisis, the Entry level job market, or your generational peers fighting wars you may or may not support. So if you are a young voter or youth organization and are upset at the attention or lack thereof from elected officials here is a bit of advice. Go follow the NRA and AARP on Facebook and twitter, look at all the work they do educate and motivate their members. And then check out the stats of who voted on Tuesday. If you are asking why doesnt anyone care about my issues?...its simple...you havent forced them to yet.
