Last night I dreamed that I was in Jr high school and I was walking on a sidewalk after school when I spotted a boy I liked. He was standing on the opposite side of the road from the bus loading zone. I had my left hand out at my side and was running my fingers along a chain link fence as I walked. I thought it made me look sweet and carefree, and that surely that boy would see me and think Man, that girl is so sweet and carefree looking, that I must ask her to go to the skating rink with me and be my girlfriend. It was about the time I was picturing us in our matching spandex skate outfits doing a double shoot the duck, when suddenly my fingers got stuck in some oddly small fence links and I couldnt get them out. So ya know that iconic scene in Sixteen Candles when the car moves outta Samanthas way and she sees Jake standing there by his sport car waving at her? It was like that. A school bus moved and then BOOM, cute boy standing by his bike. (Not a sports car, but we were 14 so what do you expect?) He was waving me over and I was stuck to the fence. He kept on waving and I kept on waving back and trying to be casual. Maybe if I put off the right attitude hed think that I was just an independent, sassy woman and hed be even more intrigued. But he wasnt. After about 5 minutes of awkward waves, he flipped me off, hopped on his bike, and rode away. In the meantime my fingers had turned a lovely bluish purple and a teacher called 911 who sent the fire department to cut me free. This was just a dream, but it seems so much like something that would happen to me that Im not 100% sure that it didnt happen and perhaps I just blocked it out. Either that or it happened to me in a past life. Looks like I have yet another thing to discuss with my therapist.
