Last night I drove two Kiwis (New Zealand natives) home from the bar. They were here temporarily playing baseball for a minor league. They were grateful for the ride and I felt bad that the taxi drivers were trying to rip them off. Before I made two left turns the conversation became deep and profound. We talked about society and how it molds our behaviors. They are very much connected to the Earth and attribute it to their indigenous ancestors who live this way day to day. What it made me realize this: we are all the same. 9,000 miles across the globe, three seperate minds with different experiences and upbringings and yet were mimicking the same message. We all want to be loved in some capacity or another. The encounter had a very fate-like vibe to it. They told me that I would fit right in with the Kiwi culture. Next stop, New Zealand. P.S my new favorite word is staunch. And I intend to say in a New Zealand accent.
