Last night, I got to take a step back into my childhood and play a Java powered web browser based version of the point-and-click adventure/mystery game Titanic: Adventure Out of Time I used to play this game when I was a kid, and it really fostered an interest in history. The game has a complex plot, where you, as a failed agent, are stuck in London during WWII. You were part of a secret mission aboard the Titanic, but you failed and the events of history as we know it occurred. You then get the chance to go back in time, back aboard the Titanic, and solve the mysteries before the ship sinks. You have to talk to different characters, use the right questions and responses to get information out of them, and find several different items. Finding these items (or only some of them) changes the way history plays out, with one ending where WWII never happened (If you get a painting by a young artist named Adolf Hitler, he becomes a successful artist and the Nazi Party never exists, but if you dont get this particular notebook with the names of Russian Revolutionaries, the Russian Revolution still occurs and Communism fills the void the non-existent Nazis left). It is a fascinating story with about 8 different endings, depending upon which items you leave the ship with. I wish they would re release it for modern computers.
