Last night I sang for a private party in Mt P with some of the most talented men in Charleston. Richard White on keys, John Phillips on sax, Brian Reed on upright and Ron Nihoff on drums. Because of how we were set up, we played to an empty room for about 2 hours of this gig but there was one shining moment when a few older people had happened upon us on their way out came in and sat down. One of the women, sharp as a tack, fit as a fiddle, came up to us after I sang Wonderful World and she told me Id made her night! She is 92 years old and was feeling nostalgic already with today being the anniversary of Pearl Harbor but said our music brought her back to happier times when she used to dance with her husband to that music. And THAT, my friends, is why I love my job!!!
