Last night I went to an extra-ordinary meeting for Daybreak. daybreak.net.au/| Its an ecumenical (and at least open to multi-faith) centre for spirituality. As their website says - The foundation of Daybreak is in Christian spirituality, but is open to people of all faiths or none. As an organisation they are having a time of reflection and discernment as to whether to continue or close. They are very frank and open about their difficulties in maintaining sufficient members and volunteers, especially board members. Theyre financially solvent but the energy and enthusiasm is increasingly coming from fewer people. It may be time for this organisation to end and other organisations can take its place perhaps... or not. I do know many people who might ask in six months time why Bendigo doesnt start up something just like Daybreak ..... not knowing it only just closed... which would be painfully ironic.
