Last night, Waterloo Ward 5 residents chose incumbent Mark Whaley - TopicsExpress

Last night, Waterloo Ward 5 residents chose incumbent Mark Whaley to his fourth term in city council. Mark is Waterloos longest serving councillor and has represented Ward 5 for 12 years. I have congratulated Mark on his win and wish him all the best in the next 4 years. As I look back at this journey, I would like to first start off by thanking everyone who supported my campaign in some way. Whether it was volunteering your time, donating, putting up a sign or spreading the word... you have my heartfelt appreciation and thanks. In the process, you have all humbled me that much more. My campaign was grassroots all the way; we didnt get any union or big business support, something that I am pleased of. I would be lying if I didnt say I am disappointed with the result and I know you wanted me to win but we have to remember that 711 voters ticked my name off. This is an achievement that we cannot undervalue and should be proud of. 711 from scratch! And while I didnt get elected to office, I feel a sense of commitment to the voters to keep going. It wont be through council but it will continue to be through public service. I am motivated more than ever before to prove that this step isnt my last, but was simply my first. Lastly, to the voters. Thank you for believing in me. You have helped me and this campaign in the most precious way, by voting. Words cannot express my gratitude. If you see me around, please say hello so I can say thank you in person. All the best and hope that our paths cross in the future once again. If you need anything, please dont hesitate to contact me.
