Last night a group from my Knights of Columbus council met an aircraft returning from AFG. A number of McDonalds in Colorado Springs have been providing quarter pounders and drinks for every aircraft returning to Ft Carson for years. Local community groups take turns meeting the troops any time day or night. This one landed at 11PM and we finished about 1230AM on 9/11. Not to sound like a pacifist, but Im retired 10 years and was similarly met when I returned from Uzbekistan in 2002. Seems like a long time to me. I would like to see our country rely more on the State Dept, economics and covert ops rather than use the military constantly to do politicians jobs. Still, God bless America and all the good citizens who serve others in so many ways!
