Last night my grandmother passed away, after a long, lonely - TopicsExpress

Last night my grandmother passed away, after a long, lonely battle. When she was young, she was a beautiful woman. She worked for theater, played classical piano, loved poetry and animals. I took to her 100% and would spend as much time as possible with her. We read books, walked her rescued dogs, fed birds on her window and even went to see animal rights documentaries - she played a huge role in who I am today. Unfortunately she was also a very ill person, with a string of broken relations, a broken heart and a very dark mind. I think because I was a child - i was the only human she got along with. She hated humanity and it hated her back. Since we came to South Africa, my parents tried everything to bring her here to live with us - as there wasnt a single person that cared for her there. She kept changing her mind, often got quite cruel and our efforts failed. She got sicker and sicker and just the other day told my parents she wants to come over to die amongst her own people. She was too late. Id love to say she had a good life, but that is certainly not the case of her last lonely, scary years. All I can say is that her suffering is over. And that I love her still and will never forget the woman that loved me as a child. She inspired me not only to love art and animals but also people, so that Unlike her I dont have the lonely ending she did and can die amongst my own kind. RIP Maria, my bright star. I wish I could have seen you one more time. I love you. Even though we are apart, I think of you every morning when I feed the birds on my balcony.
