Last night my son Machira offered to pray for dinner as he always - TopicsExpress

Last night my son Machira offered to pray for dinner as he always does. Last nights prayer was however special. The young man cleared his throat and started to pray with a mono tone like an old Anglican priest in Kiawabogo - my rural Kenya village church. He titled his prayer Thank you God and then plunged right into a thanksgiving spree. Two minutes into the prayer, it became hard to tell if the young Man of God was making his prayers and petions made known to God or prayerfully giving dad and mum his mind on some socio-economic issues in the family that he thought needed to change immediately........... or at least considered in the referedum questions. Interestingly, he somehow managed to maintain the mood of prayer by starting all the prayer items with a thanksgiving to God. And so he thanked God for dad and mum especially because when I close school they will take me to Auntie Murugi Alice Muhinga on the second week as we had agreed earlier. He then thanked God because You will make Wangari(his sister who the other day ate sadaka ) stop crying all the time for nothing....... Then he thanked God for Auntie Winnie and Uncle Victor, Ngina and Nyawira ......their last borne brothers name has not been published in the prayer book as yet so he was not prayed for. Four minutes later, he was done with the social part and was now ready to beseech the Lord on matters economy. He prayed Thank you Lord for our house is small and you will expand it so that when we are playing we are not told by (names witheld) that we are making toooooooooo much noise. ( the emphasis was as dramatic as he could prayerfully make it.) At which point I peeped at Shiko and caught her also peeping at me while trying all she could not to burst out laughing. Seven minutes later he thanked God for food and Auntie who had made it......In Jesus name I pray............. and all Gods people say it...... Join Machira in thanking God for the Daasanach New Testament dedication to be held in Ileret tomorrow. A group of us are now headed north on a light aircraft after the journey on road proved too costly and risky to undertake. May the Daasanach community be transformed by the grace of God when they interact with Gods word in the language they understand best. You could also pray that when I get back home, the house will have expanded.
