Last night someone abandoned two cats in a basket at the bottom of our track at the Welsh Shelter. Unfortunately the door of the basket was not closed properly and when staff member Teg found them on his way home from work and picked up the container, one cat (a white and tortoishell) leaped out and raced along the road and out of sight. In spite of searching for an hour we were unable to find her. The other cat in the basket is a young kittencat we have named Storm. He is around 5 months of age. We have absolutely no room at the shelter for any more cats and Storm has had to spend the night in a cat carrier until we can find him a home or a foster place. The other cat pictured here we have named Ned and Ned appeared at the shelter last year but we were unable to catch him as he was very timid .He was finally caught the day before yesterday and taken to a vet to be neutered and it was found that he had no less than FORTY ticks feasting on his body! Dumping cats at a shelter may give some peace of mind to the person doing it but it can cause shelter staff tremendous problems if the animals escape from their containers or are simply released .We are still hoping to find the missing cat so if you live in the area near the shelter please keep a look out for her.
