Last night the ANU Refugee Action Committee protested Bob Carrs public lecture in the Manning Clark Centre. Carr was a key figure in the former Labor governments adoption of offshore processing and resettlement of refugees in Papua New Guinea, as well as outrighting lying about the legitimacy of the majority of asylum seekers in a pathetic attempt at scaremongering. It is through events such as these that both ANU RAC and supporters of the refugee movement at large are making it clear to both sides of politics that anti-refugee sentiment is not welcome either on campus, or anywhere in Australia.
