Last night was a night when I needed Peter, Paul, and Mary ... - TopicsExpress

Last night was a night when I needed Peter, Paul, and Mary ... funny but there they were on one of Phillys secondary PBS stations, which was broadcasting the latest PPM special highlighting their 50 years. Out of the closing moments of the special I was moved by the words of Mary Travers. It is fitting on this HUMP DAY, which divides a week, that the female amidst the males from this incredibly heroic part of our history will be the creator of my quote of the day to challenge us as we move forward in this year and in life. All of us are subject to being passive to the social ills around us. Its a struggle not to become, by staying silent, an accomplice. MARY TRAVERS But, I will share a bonus quote too as well as a video. The bonus quote might be an even more difficult challenge in this century when we are so wrapped up in our perfectly crafted images that all too many of us are hesitant or even afraid to let go so that joy and happiness can swallow us up. MARY TRAVERS shared, I was raised on Josh White, the Weavers and Pete Seeger. The music was everywhere. Youd go to a party at somebodys apartment and there would be fifty people there, singing well into the night. Can you imagine hanging with friends and then to start singing together into the night; the video from Marys funeral has everyone joining in with that great American song of the highway, THIS LAND ... maybe the singing is happening in your world and your gatherings but then again maybe you are not passive to the social ills all around us either. Have a wonderful WEDNESDAY my friends .... peace, joy, and happiness be your discoveries today especially if they are able to carry you into tomorrow and the next day.
