Last night we also addressed DACA (the program that the President created by executive order two years ago to stop deportation of young illegal aliens). DACA, when applied to loopholes in the 2008 Human Trafficking Law, is what has led to the current border crisis. Here are the highlights: • Freezes DACA as of July 30, 2014 by prohibiting federal funds or resources from being used to adjudicate new applications under DACA. • Prohibits the Administration from using federal funds or resources to newly authorize deferred action for any class of aliens • Prevents federal funding or resources from being used to authorize work permits for aliens not lawfully present in the United States • The new language strengthens the original Blackburn-Cruz proposal by looking beyond the DACA program and tying the President’s hands on future executive actions he could take to expand amnesty for illegal aliens.
