Last night we opened some gifts at a family members and Kyleigh blew threw them....I took the time in a private moment to remind her that not only Santa, but each of the people who thought of her to give her these gifts work very hard and were very thoughtful to make that happen. To take time while opening gifts, be thankful, appreciative and loving, because shes no idea how fortunate she is, and how different it is then when daddy was a child, and how little to none some really dont have.....I was SO proud this morning when she took time opening every gift, paying attention to each one, saying thanks and excitement for each and every gift, even taking time to watch others and enjoy them. Im not a perfect parent by any stretch, im sure im even more flawed as a man. But in that moment I think my favorite Christmas gift was realizing that maybe, JUST maybe, im not doing so bad at this being a daddy thing. And possibly I wont completely screw this beautifully perfectly imperfect little girl up after all....lol. I hope all of you enjoy your small moments, as much as I have so far today.
