Last week I posted concerning the travesty of LCAS in Lincolnton, - TopicsExpress

Last week I posted concerning the travesty of LCAS in Lincolnton, NC, and the release of mama Aussie Rosa to a person who claims to be a rescue but is, in reality, a puppy mill. Rosa was pulled from her pups and turned over to a woman who has multiple charges and judgments for cruelty, negligent behavior, fraud, and operating as a puppy mill. Both the State of NJ and NJSPCA along with ASPCA brought charges against this NC resident. So, why does LCAS continue to allow her to take dogs? Not only that, but to pull an UNSPAYED female, already tagged by a legitimate rescue for pickup, and turn said dog over to a person whose legal standing is murky at best, is unacceptable. LCAS has no reasonable means to assure this female is spayed straightaway in accordance with County and State laws regarding shelter dogs. LCAS has not made any effort to assess whether Rosa will be properly cared for and not overbred. LCAS is not operating as a shelter in the true definition of a shelter, instead LCAS is an accessory to a puppy mill. Health and Safety are non-starters. So, for all of you who comment or message me about Rosa, I am sorry, I have no answers or updates. LCAS obviously doesnt care. After all they got a dog out the door and she no longer matters to them. Whether she is abused by overbreeding or negligence is moot to LCAS. Such attitudes and behaviors are nothing short of LCAS acting as an accessory before, during and after the fact. Unfortunately, Rosa is but one example. I understand from volunteers at the shelter dogs are given over to this less-than-honest/alleged rescue person on a regular basis. I shudder to think about the fate of these dogs. So, all I can say is express your outrage! Put pressure on LCAS, the rescue coordinator, the director, the County government/commissioners and encourage others to do the same. Contact ASPCA, the Humane Society, the media, etc. Demand answers and demand change for the better! IF YOU LOVE ANIMALS THEN LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD, AND BY EXTENSION, LET ELECTED OFFICIALS KNOW YOU CAN CHOOSE HOW YOU VOTE! I doubt this will help Rosa but at least people need to be put on notice the wholesale abuse of power by animal services, to the detriment of the animals, must cease and desist. At the least spay/neuter should be required prior to pick up by adopters or rescues. Ok...now dont seethe in silence! Take action!
