Last week, North Carolina teachers and students joined others across the country to celebrate International Education Week, Nov. 17-21. This annual event recognizes the benefits of international education and exchange. Kim Scott, Craven County Schools Teacher of the Year, had an opportunity to travel abroad this past summer to Germany with a group of 34 educators from across the state as part of the Global Teacher Program through University of North Carolina’s Center for International Understanding (CIU). The ten-day trip to Germany provided them with the opportunity to examine the German educational system and energy independence as well as gain a greater appreciation for the German culture. This global experience has allowed Ms. Scott to implement many projects based on her trip which have truly benefited her students!
