Last week, RRP President Steuart Pittman had the honor to be a speaker at the National Horsemen’s Benevolent & Protective Association (HBPA) annual meeting in Oklahoma City, OK. The National HBPA is dedicated to protecting the rights and providing assistance to racehorse owners & trainers throughout the US. He led a great discussion of ways that the RRP can help connect racing owners directly with second career trainers and the need to increase the overall value of horses coming off the track. We plan to work closely with state HBPA chapters to distribute the print edition of the RRP Retired Racehorse Resource Directory to their members and are excited about the overall enthusiasm from such a large national organization of racing professionals. A big thank you to the HBPAs Phil Hanrahan for inviting us to be a part of your weekend. If you are an HBPA member, be sure to check out the upcoming article on the RRP in the Horsemans Journal!
